I need to find some stainless steel tubing somewhere and start experimenting with building the exchanger.

And thank you for the tubing info. The guy on the phone said that the minimum bend radius is like about 1 foot and suggested I just run it around the inside of the 6 foot diameter fish tank, which is made of polyethylene. This is simpler than trying to build an exchanger using a tight coil inside a plastic pipe.

I'll keep you posted on this development.
