    Tom's Back Yard Addiction

I started AP in June of last year with a small system built from IBC totes and a little pvc pipe. My system has evolved to a 12 by 24 shade house and practically taken over my back yard. Here are a few pics of what I have growing this spring. I have 3 plastic water troughs from TSC, a large GB built from lumber and a pond liner, and a small RAFT system made with super tubs from Lowes. The fish reside in two totes with separate sumps and gb's to support them. Hers is a couple of Pics of the system.[attachment=1:3mp1z119]image2.jpeg[/attachment:3mp1z119]

I started with Goldies so when I expanded and bought tilapia I needed a home for the goldies so I dug a pond and put in another grow bed.

The farmer in me still like planting things in dirt...I'll post some more later on as things progress.

have you considered using the veggies in the soil as a control group to compare with the same type of veggi grown in AP? i can see that to provide folks that are starving a system that produces anything is a step in the right direction and this is what a basic AP system was aimed at.
it would be so beneficial to have some idea as to how to help these folks produce even more and better fish and crops with the same investment. to be able to identify what can be done to a basic system to help it achieve super results with minimum tech.

Its funny you say that. I was just noticing that the squash in the dirt actually set fruit earlier than the ones in the AP. The plants in the AP are much bigger but have not set fruit yet. Time will tell which ones produce more.

So far no mildew or wilt. had a major problem with leaf miner last year. I'm trying blue and yellow sticky traps to try and keep them under control. So far so good.
