    Re: MythBusters and the Prez

    Gosmith,

I am one of those persons you speak of who lives on S/S to the tune of $1,150. per month before medicare ins. and my prescriptions come out. After that I have a little over $900. per month to live on. That's my only income since my business went under July of last year and I pay $119. per month for the server that host this site and my Web New Feed website out of that also. I do this because I believe in trying to give something back to this country by disciminating information that could be helpful in people surviving the mess that America is in. I do this by helping those that are willing to help themselves rather than expect the government to take car of them.

As for how many jobs are available where you are, I also am a State Certified Public Insurance Adjuster. I have a company that helps people receive fair treatment on their claims from insurance companies however when I had my heart attacks, I was no longer able to climb up on roofs or in low attics to do the job. When I got the word, I ran an add with the Florida Employment office for 5 positions as Apprentice Public Adjusters. It was a commission position but backed up by State of Florida statistics, the possible earnings of a first year Apprentice was between 65 and 85 thousand with the possibility of receiving a pay check within 45 days. Second year possible of 150 thousand....that meant by WORKING!

I interview 71 persons about 1/3 of whom were females of which 99% were not interested when they found out it was commission and they had to climb on a roof occasionally. The others were not physically able to climb stairs let alone a ladder.

The rest were mostly young men of which some 90% were on unemployment. Any rough idea how many people actually wanted to work and were willing to give up their unemployment to make that kind of money starting out? NONE, ZILCH, NADA and so on..! Why work if someone else will support you to to sit on your ass and do nothing? That company is now defunct also.

Oh yes, and to add to my expenses, I also have a 22 yr old son who still lives at home. He did get a job right out of High School in a retail movie swap, sell or trade store but lost his job after about 3 months because the manager, a young man of about 25, professed he was in love with my son and when my son told him to take it and stick it somewhere else, he was fired. Now every time he tries to get a job, his employment record has been labeled because the manager said he was against gays and he is still unemployed. GO GAYS. They harm no one!

And you were right on, I was looking for a token liberal such as yourself for my conservative soapbox blog. Someone who has wrapped his self in a flag of self righteous indignation toward me and those that do not believe as he does; someone that doesn't want to even look at my site because he chooses to assume it is filled with the same colorful language claimed to have been chosen to use here specifically to offend him when in fact he was the one who attacked me personally because of my beliefs rather than wishing to engage in any kind of debate about anything. So be it.

Out in the open and for all to see, I would prefer that from this post forward you direct all your future post toward the technology of Aquaponics under any other topic other than this one. Nothing personal, I just think it is the best move for the forum as a whole. Have a good life and good luck with your A/P project.

Sorry Badflash. Guess I never will learn to be as diplomatic as you. Send me a PM and drag me over the coals.

    Re: MythBusters and the Prez

    Hi JCO-

Let me add one final post here, if you'll permit me, and staying away from politics, since I know we will never see eye to eye in that arena. I'd prefer to do this publicly rather than in a PM.

Your site here has provided a wonderful learning tool for me. I like all of the regulars here and it has a nice small town feeling where you don't get lost in the crowd. I've spent many long hours here, reading through old threads, gleaning as much info as I can, to create a modest system of my own that might be worthy enough to put on display here.

When participating in a forum like this, it's often easy to forget that someone had to have the desire, and take the initiative and expense, to create it in the first place. Once that is done, it then takes the ongoing commitment and expense to keep it going. Considering the usual anonymity of the internet, I expect that keeping a forum alive is almost always a thankless task.

I would like extend a heartfelt ***THANK YOU*** for DIYaquaponics.com and for all the time and effort (and money) you have put into it.

I think it's awesome that, despite a heart attack, you not only manage to keep this place going, but your political site as well. Your mention of needing to study for a college exam made me realize that you must be a lifelong knowledge seeker as well, something that should be applauded in a day and age where learning seems to have become a dirty word.

Anyway, enough mushy stuff, you old curmudgeon. Thanks for having me and take care of yourself so this site can live forever. Be sure to let everyone know if the expenses are becoming too much. We're all spending way too much on booze anyway.

    Best wishes and Happy Holidays,

    Gary

    Re: MythBusters and the Prez

Gary, I firmly believe that if we ever did meet eye to eye, we still wouldn't see "EYE TO EYE" but that's OK because between the two of us along with the other members of this forum could do a better job running American than what our elected officials do even with occasional disagreements. One reason I think that way is because we here on the forum are actually trying to help each other and everyone else who wishes assistance and information without taking anything away from anyone.

As for the work put into this site, Badflash can attest that it has been hacked at least twice (feels like it was actually 3 times, but I'm having a Jackalope senior moment) which took a lot of doing to get it back up and running. The first time, I was fairly new at it and lost everything because I didn't have backups. Second time we still lost some because the backups were not up to the moment.

We also had a terrible problem there for a while with spammers getting through until I did some reprogramming on the script and that pretty well stopped the most obvious but not every singe one. Now it seems they must have come up with some new programming of their own as I am getting more registrations from them recently than before and some still get through my defenses but they don't last long with Davidstcldfl, stucco and Jackalope on the prowl.

Thanks Gary for staying with the forum. It shows a lot about your character as a man. You will always be welcome here.

At this point I put it to a vote. All in favor of deleting this topic from the SUMP in it's entirety for the well being of the forum and so that new comers to the site are not exposed to to our darker side or Badflash, since this was you topic, I give you total authority to trim it in any manner you see fit without a vote. (It will also save space on the server for Jackalope's annual weather topic! ) Everyone interested has one week from today to cast their ballot...Badflash or majority rule.

OK, I want to protest that statement. My family has always been poor, due to low paying Jobs, layoffs because of quotas for minorities/women/religion, we have taken advantage of unemployment, welfare, Social (in)Security, and/or other programs several times in the past 50+ years. These programs were set up as a back-up measure, NOT as a way of life. Now, we live on Social (in)Security, because there's no jobs in a town of 100+ that's 110 miles from the nearest large city. That doesn't mean that I'm a "Liberal." I believe that we are quite "conservative," as a matter of fact. I don't like to be pigeon-holed to one extreme or another - I've always voted conservative, regardless of the political party (I once voted with the Tea Party in Colorado in the '70's). If Henry Jackson or Warren Magnuson were alive today, and were still the "hawks" they were back then, I'd vote for them if I still lived in WA state. Just because a person is poor and takes advantage of 'gimme' programs doesn't mean that he is liberal, - sometimes you have to do things you don't like to survive when you have a family to support - you can still love your country, and at the same time decry the mess that both of these parties have got us into.

To me, there is no difference between Reps and Dems, it's just a difference in how fast they want to move to destroy the country. If you'll notice, Obummer has backpedaled on almost every one of his campaign promises, starting with 'transparency.' I don't think things would have been any better under McShame, because he's a Dem in a Rep's overcoat. Both 'parties' are equally to blame for the condition of this country!

The real Tea Party has been taken over by fakers like Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin, who are part of the same crowd that is destroying this country from within. The original modern Tea Party was an outgrowth of the Ron Paul revolution, but today's Tea Party shows very little resemblance to RP's revolution now.

As far as the 'birther' argument, what is is with non-'birthers' saying that the birth certificate has been posted. If that was so, why has Obummer spent so many hundreds of thousands of dollars to block any revelation of his original Birth Certificate (not a Certificate of Live Birth, which was handed out by Hawaii to anyone who was alive and breathing, but not necessarily born in Hawaii - doesn't tell the docs name or the hospital). Why does he hide all of his school, college and passport records which should be publicly available, but thanks to high-priced lawyers and a lot of legal shenanigans, they are safely tucked away from prying eyes. Keep in mind, that his grandmother (and other relatives) in Kenya have stated publicly that they were present at his birth in Kenya (if you're a parent or grandparent, that's something you don't forget or get confused about!).

All this means nothing in the grand scheme of things, we're all going down the golden path toward socialism, naziism, communism etc. and we're giving up all of our privacy rights to the hordes of Napolitano's TSA porno-scanners and molesters, and nothing is being done except talk, talk, talk!

No one has challenged the blanket immunity given to federal officials by the (un)Patriot(ic) Act which has stripped us of our Constitutional Rights completely, as well as the unconstitutional 'Executive Orders' that have been put in place by one president after another (The Constitution expressly appoints the Congress to make laws, not the Executive branch).

It's called Human Nature - once a person is given authority over others, eventually, he abuses that position of authority, and when you've only got 4 years to get things accomplished, you tend to work faster than normal ...... You can trace this attitude way back to the first President that made an 'Executive Order' who I think was George Washington! I think the first one to circumvent the Constitution and the Congress with the 'Executive Order' was Thomas Jefferson with the Lousiana Purchase. "I'll do what I want because I'm in charge here!" - Human Nature at it's best

OK, so I've ranted enuff, I said I wasn't going to take part in this thread, I held off as long as I could! I'm gone!

I think I figured out what the problem has been on this thread:

If you take two old Irish guys and put them in the same room together, you're either gonna get a horrible off-key rendition of "Danny Boy," or you're gonna get a brawl. Won't turn out any other way.

Wait, did I just use an ethnic slur against myself?

    Re: MythBusters and the Prez

This is the joke thread, Right?

    Which channel?

My wife and I were watching TV the other night.

I had the remote and was switching back and forth between a

fishing channel and the porn channel.
She became more and more annoyed and finally said:
"For Pete's sake! Leave it on the porn channel!
You already know how to fish!"

(more gasoline on the fire...I guess )
