I am starting to get some of the plumbing stuff done before I start building bed and dumb thought hit me ,so I figured I would ask . I am running an external pump going through a 2" bulkhead fitting about 3" off the bottom of a 1500 gallon FT . Now my question is should the intake be as close to the bottom as possible (which was my first thought ) or more toward mid depth of the tank ( as I know most of the tropical fish tanks the pick up is about midway in the tank ).
Could not find a intake strainer so just cut a piece of 1.5 pvc , capped it ,tossed it on the band saw and just cut slots for the 12" length . I have a couple 45 fittings so can jog it down or up just not sure the best . Figured it was cheap and simple and would prevent fish getting in my pump
