Hello from Port Elizabeth, South Africa

Hey guys and gals from the aquaponics world. My name is Mike and I hail from the land of sunny South Africa. New to the aquaponics game I thought I should get some tips and tricks from the more experienced green thumbs and fish fingers!

I have a small blog on the subject: http://mikesaquaponics.wordpress.com/

Feel free to drop me a mail or comment sometime.

Mike, you should really catch us some different breeds of Tilapia we don't have here! I also need some Wami Tilapia if you got them, LOL. Just kidding, no pressure!

If anybody can assist me here your help would be much appreciated. My cucumber leaves have gone spotty and dry. I have searched the net and the only thing I can find is that it is a disease and the plants should be removed and destroyed.

I'm pretty sure I had this same problem with my "Chinese Okra", which was a luffa plan that is closely related to the cucumber.

I was so new to growing anything I never did quite figure it out, but I recall it started with the lower leafs and was working its way UP the vine. I cut off the affected leafs, and if not by coincidence, the leafs mostly stopped dieing.

To be honest though, I believed it to be a nutrient deficiency... My guess would be a magnesium deficiency. Try some Epsom Salt (magnesium sulfate); it can be cheaply purchased at any drug store and is safe for use on plants for human consumption since it is food grade.
