Bell Siphon vs Toilet Plug on Float

So, I see how great the Bell Siphon is and people have advanced the design to be very reliable.

But, it seems to do the same thing as a toilet tank plug which could be attached to a float for triggering. Is there a reason this would not work?

Is the Bell Siphon more reliable? Do you see any advantages to the toilet plug on a float?

I would think the bell siphon would be a much more compact installation and also more resistant to being "held open" by debris?

If the flapper doesn't seal, the bed probably won't fill (depending on your pump).
It's all about the fish, dude.
