In a place to say Hello

    Hello to all,

I have been into the AP scene for 3 months now and my main issue is patience. My Plants seem to be in Nutrient lock out , except for semi growing Tomatoe plants. Even the Basil is Half As**** it. But I finally got my Ammonia down to <1ppm,and my Nitrites to .5ppm, with the PH at 7.5. From what I hear I need to wait it out for the Bio action to occur. I am an Engineer by trade , Plant killer by nature, so I am just loving this. I will post some questions regarding this in another section of the forum.

    Waiting patiently (yea right....) ,

Welcome to the forum. I would suggest both reading the DIY Aquaponics book available on the home page and Oliver's Aquaponics 101 on the portal menu. You sound like you did the same thing I did and planted before the water cycled. I pulled all my plants out, because they eat the nitrates as fast as they are created. I then planted nothing until my nitrites were 0 and the nitrates were over 40ppm. I just did get to replant so I am waiting to see how it goes. Again, welcome to the site. Read and then ask questions as needed. Post a pic or 2 of your system so everyone knows what you are working with. Good luck!

Welcome to the forum. I see it's too late to warn you that Aquaponics is addictive, no shot, no cure so sit back and enjoy the ride.

Member's first day. I lost my home to a fire and I am renting right now. The garage didn't burn so I have a few supplies from my kiddie pool heating days. I will b e able to use a couple of 4x3 windows and some electric power. I am just looking to learn and teach. I have to give back to my community. They have done so much to help us through these times.

    Welcome to the forum!!!
I also have a very hard time keeping my hands out of the system...for some reason I think I need to keep tinkering but it is because of my impatience and need to be doing 'something'...lol
