    the sky has fallen

Well, last night, the sky fell in the form of marble sized hail accompanied by strong winds. The tomatoes and large leafed plants (zucchini, squash, pumpkins, and eggplants) took a beating. I had a number of tomato plants receive major injuries in key spots (end of the vine). Some of my wife's family grows commercially and suggested to repair the broken stems with band aids. I didn't realize that they could be repaired. I was told that if they are repaired quickly, the stems will grow back together. Time will tell I guess. I will take some pics when I get home tonight. It was too late last night after I finished up in the garden ER.

All of the plants should be able pull through. 1-3 miles west of me look pretty shredded.

    dead_sled,

The weather weather hammered your plants but you and your faimily are OK so don't let life get you down. Keep on Keepin' On.

So far the repairs are not looking good on the tomato vines. Luckily I left a few suckers that will be able to replace the broken parts. I missed a few on the last pruning. Hopefully, I will have time tonight to get more pictures of the recovery.
