Once a week. I broke my tubes and had to buy a replacement set. Got a box of 2 dozen (I think) from Amazon.

I have only been testing my water once in a blue moon these days. Back when I first started my system, it was every few days, and then once a week. Now, I go MONTHS without checking it (unless I have reason to expect that something is "off", like a smell or visual water quality looking different).

I always tried to check mine every other day or so with Goldies/carp, but every couple of weeks with Tilapia that way I didn't let it get too out-of-sorts where it needed small , instead of large adjustments.
