    flood table question ????

    I am new to the aquaponics techniques.. i have been doing research and have seen m any different types of flood tables but the idea i had in mind i have not seen so i was wondering if there was some reason...

    my question is ..... can you use gutter filled with you media ... pvc or aluminum ..???

    there like 5"x5"x10'

    A few things come to mind....
    first, you'd need to remove some/most of the solids first. The reason being, is that the gutters would fill with too many solids otherwise. Unless you had a very small fish load.
    Second, you'd need to use a timer....this would be too shallow for a bell siphon.
    Third, if outside, being so small, they will act like radiators. When cold outside, the water will cool very quick. When hot out, the water will heat quickly.

    Also, they would be OK for small/short term plants like lettuces, but peppers and especially tomatoe's roots would overwhelm the gutters.
