The AP 20 came today.... I just need to go get some air line and stones now. Man, this thing is way bigger than I thought it would be.

let me know how it performs. I can always use another air pump, and if it works for you I will have to see if I can find one.
At first I left this blank...but now I believe: "It's better to keep your mouth closed, and have the world think your a fool, than open it and confirm it."

I don't have a lot of experience with different air pumps but I would say that this kicks ass.

    Here's a video:

If it doesn't load yet, it's prolly still being processed by YouTube.

    Re: Air pumps

This stuff is new to me.... the tank looks like a jaccuzi with that pump going.

The fish seem to be dealing with it though. I put them in last night and only lost one...floating around this morning.

There is a lot of algae bits swirling around and the fish seem to be eating it. He may have died from over-eating maybe... not sure.

The other fish seem to be pretty perky today though. Do you think they'll be ok in a jaccuzi or should I add a timer to cycle it?

The SLO has done a pretty good job of clearing up the water so far but it still has a ways to go. At least the larger particles are pretty much gone.

If you think you have too much in the fish tank....maybe you could run a little air to the sump.

Yeah, good idea. I'll get some more air line tomorrow.... I'm not sure if it's too much or not really. The rest of the fish seem to be ok with it.

I also put a 5" koi in yesterday and he seems to be doing ok.

That air pump did seem to do the trick for getting that algae in check.

    Yeah, they are substantial machines.
    Here is my Pondmaster AP-100:

    with 500ml bottle of Marinis
(that's the Canadian version of Maxicrop)
    for scale reference.
The manifold has 33 two-step nipples
which accept 1/4" or 3/8" air line.
    Rated for 10,000 gallons.
    These are serious air pumps!
And the rebuild kit is only $14, even here in Canada.

    Re: Air pumps

    Hey Guys,

I am looking at an air pump for my new system there are around 700 gallons of water in this guy. I was thinking about the Danner AP-40, it says the 40 has 2700 cubic inches/ which is 10 gallons / min of flow rate versus the AP-20 which is 1700 cubic inches/min or 7./3 gallons per min.

    They also make a 60 (5500 in3/min) and a 100 (9150 in3/min)

What I am hearing from Oliver is that I may need 3500 gallons per hour of flow rate for 700 gallons of water. Not to mention my new system is a Chop II monstrosity. Basement System Design

    Thanks
