    saying hellow from BC Canada

    Hey all.
As I am an apt dweller and my balcony garden is consistently too messy, or takes up too much room,
I'm trying to achieve aesthetic AND gardening.

I stumbled across aquaponics on you tube, with a little more fishing (no pun intended) about it and I stumbled upon this forum.
So here I am. saying hello.

Help in setting up a system is what I'm looking for, and hopefully in the near future I can invite you all over for a fish and salad lunch.

I would like to raise fish for eating in case of a SHTF situation, or maybe I should re-phrase that the WHEN the SHTF.

I have a southern exposure with sun most the day beating on the balcony, but the water may freeze, during winters, so I'm prepared to build a shelving system inside along the large balcony window/sliding door.

currently I'm looking at a 30 gal aquarium on CL for 20 bucks. (just the tank) I figured since it needs to be aesthetic too, then an aquarium might be nice.

all thoughts ideas, assistance constructive criticism welcomed an appreciated.

thanks, and thanks for having me, looking fwd to learning this new venture.

    thank you oliver

I did see those, I copied them for some bedtime review,
I was looking at the lb per fish / grow bed ratio scale in part 5 and thought, Woops.
my 30 gal tank doesn't even cut it. however, the bed I was thinking of using one of those plastic container that go under the bed, about 2 by 5 by 6-8 inches deep
I really only need to feed myself.
