    koi with black spots

Hey so i have Comets in 2 different tanks they came from the same place (bait store) and last few days 1 fish from both tanks have started getting a lot of black spots. what i have read is that it might be ammonia burn? but 1 out of 10 has it in my 45 gal aquarium and 1 out of 40 in the 250gal FT. a little help?

what are your volumes? ft, gb.. any extra filtration?

It may be just the photo, but the fins are burned on the closest one and the one behind it has a whitish film on its body. This is real common with feeders they have been shipped in super crowded conditions and it could be chemical burn, bacterial, or fungal. But if it holds true it will move very fast.the problem is you can not use chemicals because you want to produce food.

great, you're lucky, furazone green works well for many different things.
if it appears to be parasitic use Clout.

    Re: koi with black spots

Typical symptoms of goldfish and koi diseases. ... BLACK SPOTS The most common cause of black spotting on fish is transient ammonia spikes.

Black spots in goldfish, koi , and other coldwater fish often occur as a result of ammonia surges in the water. The black spots can appear on the side or back of your fish. Frequent partial water changes will help to correct this condition and the color on the goldfish should return to normal within a few weeks.

I raise KOI so, take it from one who knows.
