    Temperature in fist tank

The weather was so hot yesterday (96 degrees) that the temp in my fish tank went up to 90 degrees, and today is supposed to be 97 degrees.

Should I be concerned about this? I am raising blue tilapia. Right now I am using a a sheet of insulation with reflector as a lid, but not sure if I should change something...

    Re: Temperature in fist tank

If you don't have anything on the sides of the tank and it is outside, put 1" Styrofoam on it to keep the sun off the sides. Be sure to leave a gap between the top of the tank and the lid you put on it. Other than that, the Tilapia can stand the heat pretty well...just make sure your filtration and aeration are working properly...add some extra aeration if you can to help with the oxygenation of the water.

I have it insulated on the sides pretty good, but I don't think I have a gap between the sides and the lid. I will see when I get home.
