July 11-13, 2011

McCarty Hall B; Room 3096
University of Florida, Gainesville, FL

http://conference.ifas.ufl.edu/soils/micro/index.html

This training course is designed for scientists, organic farmers, and others interested in the practical and theoretical aspects of using mycorrhizal fungi to enhance plant growth and nutrient cycling.

Typical fields of interest include studies in plant biology and ecology, soil and plant interactions in agriculture and horticulture, ecosystem carbon flux, and symbiosis research.

Practical laboratory sessions will be supported by lectures and discussions. Technical manuals containing all experimental protocols will be provided to participants.

The course provides 21 hours of training and instruction, and a Certificate of Completion will be provided upon conclusion. Enrollment is limited, so register early to secure a seat in the course.

a long commute. :)
innoculating plants with the specific mycorrhizal makes a world of difference in the plants health and growth.
i don't know if i could survive a class like this, but would certainly be interested. do they offer this in a video or web version?
thanks

I don't think so. rfeiller, I believe YOU can take FREE classes at UF. They call it "auditing" the course. You don't get a grade that matters of course, but you get the course materials and take the course like a normal student. I think the criteria is anyone over 62 or 58 1/2 (something like that) can take any course for free. You should really take advantage since I know you are more research/science oriented on many topics. You will be blown away by what you can learn in 1 course!!! I have friends who are Master Gardeners who have taken these, and they say that even though half or more of the stuff is over their head, they learn SO MUCH. It's worth every penny (or lack thereof, lol).

OH, I guess you have to be an FL resident, but I know they have online courses. Check your local Universities, they must have a program like this. OR alternatively, if you can somehow prove FL residency ;-) ;-) but otherwise, check locally they must have this at least through the same university the local extensions are associated with...
