Last year a friend sent me a batch of fry he thought were rocky mountain white. These would be a cross between O. mossambicus and O. niloticus selected for a white color. Supposedly these have cold resistance down in the 50F range long term.

What I have appear to be white niles. These are truly beautiful fish, but they look just like niles, only white. Fortunately, they seem to breed in a smaller space. I have my first successful spawn in a 120 gallon tank. Only 30 fry, but that is a milestone for me.

According to my research, Rocky Mountain Whites are a cross between aurea x nilotica.

You are correct. They have also been selected for their white color. What I have look like albino niles without red eyes.
