I just wanted to announce my attempt to build my very own Aquaponics System. I will be (hopefully) posting lots of YouTube videos on it.

Welcome to the show....pull up an easy chair, relax and stay awhile. New voices are always a welcome addition to our family..! Whatever questions you have on you mind, this is the place to get the answers so pick a topic of your interest and start your own thread and Enjoy. Also, you have a fellow member there in your area who has a system up and running that you could possibly get some great pointers form. On the forum, he is known as stucco.

Bumping this thread to say hello as well. Tecnoblix and I are working an AP system as a team so rather than post a new topic and try to explain things all over again, I figured I'd just tack my hello onto the end of his! ;)

I'm not sure when he last posted an update, so just this once I'll update here:

We added a float tray directly to the pond...

and decided after about a week it had wasted space and expanded, transplanting some of the plants from the tubes to the tray. The bamboo stakes are to keep the tray from drifting under the deck and damaging the plants.

Since adding the floater and extra plants the plants seem much happier, and water has cleared up considerably (was fairly green and cloudy), but we are uncertain as to whether it was the reduction in sun or the increase in plants that was more responsible.

The remaining plants in the tubes are doing well, and I have more seeded in trays to fill the currently empty positions.

We had an issue of wind damaging the plants in the tube so we put up a windbreak of clear plastic corrugated roofing.

I recognize your graphics form the Youtube video I saw of your setup when you were getting started. Keep up the good work, but please pick a top and start your own thread. "A Place To Say Hello" is just that, a place to say hello, the it's off to the fair and your own thing.
