Anyone heard of Father Fish?
Just found the guy, fell in love.
I'm building a fish tank following his methods: deep substrate with thick sand layer topping it off, inoculation of fresh outside pond, stream, etc. sourced water to add, fish chosen based on natural predatory and symbiotic relationships with all flora/fauna, especially the micro. The tank, as it develops, is self-sustaining.

My fantasy project is as follows, need some help w/ logistics and issues I am not even realising.
I am trying to avoid pumps and excess electrical components I *may* not need.

1. Natural Ecosystem Fishtank at waist height for better visual pleasure. Note: fish will not be farmed. Small freshwater species only.
2. DIY one of those waterwheel things (for aesthetics, cause why not) but also to take water from the tank, power the wheel by having it run from higher to lower ground (top of tank to bottom of aerotower). The waterwheel is the pump from the tank to the tower.
3. Ram pump to take water back to the tank without electricity.

Is there even a way to build a mini waterwheel thing with enough power to shoot water from the bottom of the aeroponic tower through to the top? Or does the water from the tank always have to come from above, and shouldn't be pumped upwards.

Will the ram pump SHOOT out the water into the tank? Creating too much of a current? These kinds of tanks need slow moving water, no pumps in the tank.
