Hello i don't even know if i am putting this in the wrong section (if so sorry) however i am new to gardening yet alone hydo and wanted to know if this would work and if it is a + or -.

Basically i get a 100+L plastic tub(used for the water/fish and a 40L tub for the plant/soil...and place them on top of each-other so the soil is in the water just a little bit.

would this work?
is it good ?(i have see that all the ponics are not actually in the water but above and they flood the soil for bit then release it back out)
do i need a pump to get o2 into the water for the fish or will the plant above do it ?
i was going to also put compost worms in the top soil container however i don't know if that's a good idea either

sorry if this makes no sense however i never even heard of aquaponics before and i just dreamt this build lol

Welcome cuban_, glad that you have joined us. May your journey bring you the knowledge that you seek, put a smile up on your face, create hours of pleasure to stimulate your mind, an a healthier life style for your heart...from Apollo__Phoenix, Arizona.

If you plan only to water your plants in the upper tote then yes...but you're completely missing the concepts of having your plants, fish and bio system provide for each other.

Welcome to the addiction.
I would recommend that you read Oliver's Aquaponics 101 thread to get the basics.
That should answer the initial questions that you have.
Once all the basic requirements are met, the system can be designed anyway your imagination takes you.

have i just completely missed something? i read that you need to displace the water to make o2 breathable for the fish (haha i thought the plant above would) so i could add auto bell siphon this would drain the bed and displace the water ?

That's correct. Flood and drain gives the plants time to get oxygen to their roots.
