It took a day to draw the plans. Weeks to get all the parts. A month to get it running perfectly. Three months to get it fully cycled.

I hope you enjoy. Or leave some advice as to how to make it better.

Welcome, glad that you have joined us. May your journey bring you the knowledge that you seek, put a smile up on your face, create hours of pleasure to stimulate your mind, an a healthier life style for your heart...from Apollo__Phoenix, Arizona.

A couple of suggestions, you need to control your algae in both your fish tank and sump. You should stop the sun light from entering from the sides and I have an algae fish in both of my tanks.

If you want to view my set up from start to now, check out “Fire Pit … AP” then “Pipe Siphon by Apollo” and ending with "Got Vertigrow?".

Thanks. Yes I have put a insulation type blanket around the fish tank. And a tarp on top of the fish tank and sump tank. Algae levels are slowly coming down now. When I first installed them my Nitrite. Nitrate. And ammonia. Levels increased. They are all back to normal now. Zero. PH 6.4/6.7. It never changes. I keep my KH at 4ppm. By adding one spoonful of calcium/carbonates every three weeks. I have added little bits of Magnesium. Iron and Potassium. For my tomatoes/tomato’s . there starting to flower again. And producing fruit.

Alls good so far. I have read the first two pages of your post about your bells not working right? I built my system just using you tube clips. It took some time to work it out. But both my bells are at different heights. Work fine now.

Sorry. I am using a Galaxy S4 from Samsung phone camera. Do you know of a program where I can down size the pictures? As it takes hours to up load clips. Thanks in advance.

I have about 20 or more photos on the build of my system. I thought they my help out some of the new people. By adding some ideas.

Thanks again.

I am using a Galaxy S3 from Samsung phone camera, if you charge your phone thought the USB port on your computer it should offer to down load your pictures auto. Put them where you may then after viewing them send some to you desk top. I upload mine to this site straight from my desk top.

You could also email pictures from phone to your email 1 to 2 at a time, then send them to your desk top too.

Good Luck

I use a program called "Auto Resize" on my iPhone and ipad. That works for me. You may find a version for android.

Hi Blizzard, Not sure why photobucket isn't working for you...?
Hope this helps...lots of us are picture junkies... ;)

When in 'Photo bucket'...Place cursor on a photo (upper right corner) a drop down window appears...
Click on 'share links'....
Then click on the IMG code...then paste it in your post.
Only the code is seen , as you write a reply, once you click 'submit' (or 'preview')....the picture shows up in your post.

Thanks. David.
The first six tubes are my IBC. PH7.4 Ammonia 0. Nitrite 0. Nitrate 20ppm. KH.3 GH.8

The second set off tubes are my Aquarium top up water going into my IBC GBS.PH 7.4 Ammonia 0.25 Nitrite 0.50 Nitrate 80ppm + . Yes I have fat goldfish that I used to start-up the IBC unit. 100ltrs per week goes into my Gbs.

Here are my submerged in feed pipes to my grow beds, they have a 4mm air hose line to create a venturi type bubble system into the ST. they also help stop the syphons from blocking.

To the left the relief pressure ball valve. And left off that a tee piece that goes from 20mm pipe from the pump to a 25mm tee. 25mm to the fish tank controlled by another ball valve. And 25mm/15mm pipe reducer going to the Grow beds. I can adjust my water flow to suit my needs. Go from FD to CF.

Maybe my color hue is off on my computer but I see your Nitrate levels as off the chart, maybe pushing 200ppm.

Check out my post "Color blind...need your help" your Nitrate level are a darker red then mine were. At that time mine were about 150 to 160 ppm. Since then they have continued to increase, I'm still trying to get them down though water exchanges, less food and more plants.

Do you know what the ideal level is suppose to be?

PS I'm not really color blind...just wanted some other opinions to confirm what I was seeing.

There are a series of new clips on the API test kits. It opened my eyes as I was doing it wrong before. At the end she said if its red. Add more hungry plants or less fish. I added more plants. But not to the aquarium. As that’s my backup plant food tank. I add 100ltrs per week to my system. After all I have to do a water change each week anyway on my 200ltr aquarium. Saves putting it down the drain. Plus around 100ltrs per week tap water into my 1300ltrs system approx.

I have an easy way of draining my Nitrate High fish water into my organic garden, by opening the valve on my "Whirlpool Filter / Fry Catcher" I can pump 55 gals of water out in 15 minutes. I then have a 2nd hose running from my rain barrels back the my FT.

My rabbit problem took out most of my plants causing the imbalance plus I need to give away about 7 of my 15 cent starter Gold Fish that are now 6 to 7 inches.

I too use the aquarium water to top um my ap system weekly. Makes the plants happy to get that extra boost of nitrates all at once. Lol

Well you have to put the start-up fish to good use after all. Come time to harvest they will be needed again. And now they are a lot bigger than when they first started. I am growing Barramundi and Silver perch in my system. There going to have to fill some big shoes come winter. 8-)

Ok nitrate levels are looking like red cordial here. I had to take a brush cutter to the basil plant as it was growing to fast. I put six sweet corn seedlings in today to suck up some of the nitrates. Yes I will need a ladder come harvest time. But its my first year so its an adventure.

Nice looking system.
Maybe I missed it but how much aeration are you providing your system?

I have a 15wt AC/DC air pump running 24/7 with two outlets, one in the fish tank one in the sump tank with the yabbies or craw fish, I am still toying with the venturis.

I would gladly swap Obama for Abbot and the two Bishops we have here. After all he is trying to give you the healthcare we have now that Abbot is trying to take away from us? You can judge a society by how well it looks after its sick and poor! You can judge a politician in the same way!

Ok the other day. I cleaned out the fish tank. Due to over feeding and a change in feed. The fish didn’t like the new feed? So I put caps on my stem pipes for maximum water retention. And a cap on my silo pipe to drain my fish tank. Plus I used my gravel pump hose from my aquarium to suck out the stuff on the bottom of the fish tank.

No limit but there is a limit on the size in pixels...and no, I don't remember what it is right off and couldn't remember where to find it. Just try to keep it down.

I pulled out a shell this morning thinking I had lost a marron? Anyhow I put the shell into a pot to show my daughter latter. As I was showing her the shell I noticed little white wriggly things in the pot? Then I took another look at my aquarium and the marron were still there. So I now have around one hundred baby marron in a separate 20ltr tank. Their very small but active.

My first babies in aquaponics!
