Finally something fishy is going on in my fish tank, for months I've had about 4 of my largest tilapias guarding the breeding pots. Never more than one at a time in or around the opening of the pot.

Tonight I went out right before dark to find an orgy of 6 to 7 fish spinning around, head over tails, 69ing each other. This took place for about 3 to 4 minutes, with a short resting period and than another round with 2 to 4 fish.

I got the fry's when they were about 1 inch in size, 10 months ago. Some are now 9 inches in length. I was thinking the guy that sold me the tilapias had changed all of them chemically into males...maybe not!

Congrats! I'm not very familiar with the spawn cycle of tilapia how long before you know if it went well?

Well it's probably their first time being photographed doing the "eddy".

Well ho did all the porn turn out? Any extra fins in the tank?

Sorry to say no extra fins in the tank, they must have been spooning. I've have 25 original Tilapia's just over 1 year old...not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I know that I had some females because when I did my autopsies on good healthy looking fish that I found dead, their were some with large sacks of eggs inside.

Some fish act funny and won't eat, when they die it's not a shock. But to find one of my healthy fish floating in the morning, make me wonder what happened in the early morning hours that cause their death .
