Has anyone been able to repurpose an 8 seat hot tub as a fish tank successfully?

Insulated plumbed and holds water sounds just about perfect. Splice in a piece of pvc where the heater is. make sure to clean the tub as people do weird things in hot tubs plus all the oils, lotions, and what not.

Good luck, topz! I will keep a close eye on your efforts :geek: Thanks for sharing. I am just getting into AP and for now am going the more traditional ibc route to see if I can do this. I am using unheated garage space for now, with HID and in tank heaters. I am in SE Mich under weather limitations but am excited at my chances. Once I get the hang of it, I will follow your lead and expand with the hot tub housed in a new sunroom.

At least the fish will use the thing as we have stopped and it seems a good idea.

You can do it. It's not hard. Remove all copper from system...inspect underneath it carefully. They use a lot of copper in the fittings on mine.
Other than that....it's pretty straight forward.

Good thinking. Metal can cause problems in AP systems.

Sounds good. I will take it on once my first ibc based AP succeeds. Thanks for the feedback :-)
