hi all,

just a quick intro. i'm very excited about aquaponics,
especially integrated aquaponics as described on
the microponics web site. i'm hoping to build a trial
system in the near future that has as few external inputs
as possible.

i'm very into permaculture, as well as computer
programming and the arts. always looking for
similarities and resonances between these disciplines.

this site looks good. already learned quite
a bit just perusing.

cheers,
_c

Hey there _c, howdy from Sac Town. I'm in downtown Sacramento. Looking forward to hearing more about your trial system as you get it going. I'm just getting started. Have a little desktop aquaponics system going now inside the home, hoping to set up a larger system outdoors, although space is limited because we live in a condo. Stay in touch.

Well, if you insist. Here's a picture of my little desktop aquaponics system after a few weeks in action. [attachment=0:1oazqvxi]IMG_6335.jpg[/attachment:1oazqvxi]29 gallon (110 liter) tank and 7.5 gallon (28 liter) grow bed. A few fish and a few plants growing. Clear tubing leads from pump in tank to bring water into grow bed. Black bell siphon (based on design by Affnan http://affnan-aquaponics.blogspot.com) is in center of grow bed. White siphon outlet is just barely visible under the grow bed (obscured by tank cover). White standpipe on the right is for overflow protection. Window behind is normally open, but closed for the photo to prevent backlighting. Window is north-facing, so need to use shade-tolerate plants.

BTW, there's also video of this system at youtube.com/joezbrosac. I'm working on more video on design of the bell siphon and screen.
