Hello there. I am a new aquaponist. I have been maintaining a koi pond for years and now would like to start growing my own food with a separate aquaponic system. I am thinking about buying a IBC for the fish and building 8" deep media beds. I have about 90 linear feet to install 3' beds. I don't know how much cubic feet of media to build yet. Working on getting the details ironed out.

welcome aboard..
the only thing i would recommend is to maybe consider having your beds a little deeper.. you'll be providing more surface area for the bacteria and have (imho) more stable plants...

You could use the water from your KOI for the nutrients....that's what I do. OH, and welcome the addiction and just so you know right up front there is no shot and no known cure for Aquaponicsistitus.(new word...what do ya think) :o You're done for now...

Use the water from you Koi pond and just circulate it through the grow beds. I would start with cheap and easy to get your feet wet, so to speak. I like the tanks cut for growbeds but there may be less expensive ways to do it, I am not sure. I can get used ones for about $90 which for two 4x4 beds with stands you can't beat.
