Hello,

I'm actually just outside Calgary in DeWinton but I thought people could relate better to Calgary :). I've been researching for quite a while and I finally have my system set up. I still need to fully stock and plant it. Here is a pic of what I have set up right now:

With the grow tent and LED light:

Right now I only have a couple Sterlets in there as I can't find and cool water fish I can stock so ornamental fish for me until then.

Thanks for looking.

Ron

Hi Ron, welcome to the forum.... :)
I know they don't use much.....how many watts does your light use ?

My LED (Hydro Grow 336x Pro) has 336 - 3W LEDs but the actual measured consumption is 520W.

Welcome to the site. Nice light. Did you measure how much the Led lights put out in FC by any chance at certain distances? I'm curious how they compare to fluorescents.

Thanks and thanks.

I have very limited knowledge of lights as this is really the first time I will be attempting to grow anything but my carnivorous plants that are on my window sills. From my understanding LEDs produce more useful light for plants so they will read low in lumens but high in PAR.

Man that's nice... but the price would have to drop by 10x for us to afford them.

So far I like it alot but we'll see how the plants like it. I was lucky to find this unit in Calgary used. The original owner used it for only a couple of grows, he did a couple reviews where he grew beefsteak tomatoes and watermelons which I guess require a whack of light. I got it for less than half price so if you consider the cost of replacement bulbs, if I were to go with T5HO, it was actually cheaper. The savings on electricity and the superior performance were other factors considered, a couple reviews I have read have this unit outperforming 1000W HPS lights. Lastly the system is in my fishroom that houses a lot of dwarf shrimp that prefer cooler water, I didn't want a light that pumped out a tonne of heat.

Welcome to the Forum :!:
Nice starter system .... keep searching for cold-water fish, I'm sure you'll find some .... I used to go to Red Deer a lot, but haven't been up there in a few years
