Wonder how old? Mine are big, and getting bigger...but not that big. Look at the belly line. It doesn't fill out like bass or catfish that have food readily available. I first thought this, when observed my own, was that I wasn't feeding enough or high enough quality. But even in my very well fed breeders the slight concave belly is present. I am going to assume that they have a slightly longer growing season there than I do here, and IF, really big if there....but if the grow rate per year is comparable I would think that's at least a 4-6 year old fish. Does anybody have a more credible way to guage growth? Size reference is a problem, but that's a smaller framed woman...so I am guessing about 20" or so in length.
I know most fish age is determined by the spinal vertibret, but that's not really an option here.
