Is anyone raising buttikoferi for aquaponics or food aquaculture?
They are used as food fish in some places
(but then, so are angel fish)
and are said to grow to at least 15 inches.
Maybe they would be valuable to cross with one of the more common tilapia for size and vigor... ?

Anyone know about these guys?

I looked around for them about a year ago, and couldn't find them. Please let me know if you find some.

I'll be happy to pass on any sources I find.
But what would you do with them?
That's what I'm still wondering.

Breed them, Eat them, look at em. I like the patterns better on them, and I have read that they are more aggressive than my moss. are so perhaps that aggressiveness will carry to their feeding habits. Slow to eat, hard to feed fish frustrate me as even after you get them to eat they never seem to grow at quite the same rates as others.

$60 is a bit steep don't you think? Not to mention the shipping.

Yes, I do think it's a bit steep.
But I thought I'd let you make that call.
I was just responding to your request.

Thanks for the posting. The cost at first was a surprise...but then I went back and read the add again. For the quantity and the SIZE of the fish, that's not a bad price when all of that is taken into consideration. I suppose all in the right perspective.

Yeah, it's not so much maybe
to create a big new hybrid.
She ought to give you a lot of eggs!
