Bell Siphon Height on low profile feed bed

Hello- I'm a newbie with this...My question is I have a 7" deep grow bed (for now) - looking to grow spinach. I'm thinking of using river gravel in the bed and then peat moss on the very top (is that ok?). I'd like to know how tall I should have the bell siphon for top level and then how much I should leave for low level. Thanks for your suggestions!

    Welcome to the forum.
Ideally you would not want water level to remain 1-2 inches below the top of your medium.
    This prevents algae growth
If you have not read Oliver's 101 thread...I would highly recommend it.....
